We’re so grateful to Don McGowen for spending an inspiring evening with us, sharing the incredible journey of raising puppies who go on to become guide dogs for individuals with visual impairments. His passion and dedication lit up the room — and so did the pups!
We were thrilled to “pack” the event with a full house, including two amazing families currently raising future guide dogs. These pups were true pros — stealing hearts and behaving better than most humans (we’re not naming names.
Did you know it costs approximately $70,000 to breed, raise, and train a single guide dog? Of every eight pups, five go on to graduate, while three find meaningful "career changes" in other service roles.

Did you know that The Last Resort Rescue is working to open New Jersey’s first-ever 24/7 Wildlife Emergency Room — right here in West Milford? This groundbreaking project is powered entirely by passionate local volunteers, and it’s a huge leap forward for wildlife care in our community.
From injured owls to orphaned fawns, this ER will provide life-saving care to our wild neighbors, around the clock. It’s an extraordinary undertaking — and they need our help to bring it to life.
