Our very own Dr. Streng found 9 baby opossums on the side of the road! Unfortunately, their mom was hit by a car, but lucky for them, Dr Streng was able to get them to the hospital to get them cared for! They will be transferred to @thelastresortrescue for long term care!
Thanks to everyone on our team that was able to help.
*Please note that GWLAH does not treat wildlife, though we can give information and referrals for proper care.
June is also National Adopt-a-Cat Month. If you are considering adopting a cat or have questions regarding how to care for your new feline friend, please give us a call. Our staff will be happy to go over some basic information or perhaps we can connect you with the purrfect kitty. Please call us at 973-728-2233.
As the weather become warmer, everyone is emerging from their homes and enjoying the fresh air. This time of year, we can see lots of types of wildlife out and about in our yards and on the road. The biggest question around this time is what to do when you see an injured wild animal and how can you help them. While we naturally want to run up to the animal and pick it up to help them, this is discouraged until the situation is properly assessed and you take the time to call your local animal hospital or animal control for further steps. To help you decide what to do, how to assess an injured animal or where to bring injured wildlife please see the below links:
While we all prepare for our summer plans and getting excited for the adventures ahead, we just want to take a moment to recognize National Pet Preparedness Month. New Jersey is no stranger to severe weather conditions and as of recently, an earthquake and tornado. We want our clients to feel confident that their pets are covered under their emergency plans so below are a few tips and a link with more extensive information regarding emergency preparedness!
